Front Suspension

BRINGING PERFORMANCE TO CLASSIC & MODERN FORDS

It doesn’t get much easier than this. Gateway’s coil-over strut and unique spindle replace the original A-arm, coil spring, and shock set-up in 60′-77′ Ford unibody Gateway Performance Suspension vehicles including Mustang, Cougar, Comet, Falcon, Fairlane, Meteor, Maverick, Ranchero, Montego, Torino. In addition to the Vintage kits, Gateway Performance Suspension has top notch suspension kits for late model Mustangs 05′-14. Kits for Foxbody, Sn95, and New Edge Mustangs are currently in the testing phase. The Gateway Performance Suspension strut system replaces most of the factory components, including a large coil spring on top of an upper A-arm. The Gateway Performance Suspension strut mounts to the factory shock tower utilizing the three holes that previously attached the shock bracket. There is no drilling on 66′ or earlier cars. You will need to drill 3 holes per side thru the spring retainer plate on 67 and later models. The new spindle mounts to the original ball joint on the lower control arm. Two large bolts attach the top spindle to the coil-over strut. Ride Height is adjusted by threading the strut tube in the lower strut mount to raise or lower the car. A small bolt is used to adjust camber. Performance brakes are included with most Gateway Performance Suspension systems.

3-Link Rear Suspension

Benefits of a 3-link system :

The long torque arm attaches to the chassis near the tail shaft of the transmission. When power is applied the pinion tries to roll upward, and this motion is then transferred through the torque arm which results in the arm trying to lift the chassis where the bulk of the weight is located. This weight is applied to the rear tires and greatly increases traction, particularly in truck applications where there isn’t a lot of weight located in the rear. The opposite of this effect comes in during braking. The pinion will roll downward which pulls the torque arm down with it, thus pulling the center of the chassis downward which lessens the effects of anti-dive and makes the rear brakes more effective. Gateway Performance Suspension’s 3-link systems also include a Watt’s Link which keeps your rear axle completely centered throughout its’ travel and allows your vehicle to turn equally well in both directions, unlike a traditional 4-link system that features a Panhard bar. The Watt’s Link becomes the roll center so you can tune how much rear grip you have in a corner by raising or lowering the pivot point of the Watt’s Link.

We have rear suspension for 65-73 Mustang and 53-79 F100 short bed trucks.

Brake Kits

Gateway Performance Suspension has partnered with Baer, Inc because they are a leader in the performance brake industry that challenges the status quo by focusing on engineering design and innovative technology that delivers complete and detail-oriented solutions to their consumers. All of Baer’s products feature material sourced from the USA. Their products are also machined in house and the fit and finish of their products is completed in their warehouse as well, all in Phoenix, AZ. All Baer calipers are machined out of extruded or forged aluminum ensuring premium quality. Baer only uses copper sealed banjo fittings for brake line attachment, never leak prone pipe thread, and includes dual seals (dust/weather and pressure) to meet and exceed DOT specifications. High grade, quality certified hardware (grade 8 or better) sourced from the USA is used throughout all their components and all of their 2-piece rotor hats use captured nuts (they never screw directly into aluminum). These fine thread stainless (U286) NAS (National Aerospace Standard) fasteners are the same pieces used to bolt formula one cars and airplanes together!

Rack and Pinion

Whether you are retaining your stock suspension or stepping up to one of Gateway Performance Suspension’s strut kits it makes sense to replace the stock Ford steering system, which is full of lost motion. What makes Gateway Performance Suspension’s Power Rack and Pinion kit so unique is the effortless bolt-in design that leaves you with modern, smooth, and predictable steering. The Gateway Performance Suspension rack and pinion is designed to bolt up to the factory mounting points for the stock steering which allows you to keep the bolt-in lower crossmember. Gateway Performance Suspension uses linear tracking on the drag link to ensure a true linear movement. While the Gateway Performance Suspension rack and pinion kit will work with the stock power steering pump we recommend stepping up to the KRC steering pump they offer if you plan on doing any autocross or road course driving. Like Gateway’s suspension lineup, their rack and pinion uses all american made parts
